WHAT IS CANONBIE YOUTH GROUP? (CYG)

Canonbie Youth Group (CYG) was setup in 2005 to bring fresh ideas into the village for young people. It was obvious at that time there was little set up in Canonbie for young people to do, and this gave a group of young people the idea that they should get together, to organise, and run different events that involved young people.We are not a youth club as such; we are a committee of young people, helped by adults who work on behalf of the youth in the villages in and around Canonbie.

During late 2010 and early 2011 the group has risen again, and is now starting to organise events, so that young people can come along and enjoy themselves in a safe and fun way.

Since restarting the group we have held a number of disco’s in Canonbie Hall and they have been attended by young people from the Parish. We also held a walking event ‘Marie Curie Sponsored Daffodil Walk’ on 10th of April which went from either Rowanburn to Canonbie or Canonbie to Rowanburn.

We are looking for new members to join our group as well as ideas about what the young people in the Parish of Canonbie want to do.
